HELP - HPMA Expert Learning Partnerships
The HPMA launched a new mentoring and buddy scheme for members at the NHS Employers Conference in October and already we have a growing group of HR professionals keen to become mentors, mentees or buddies.

If you would like register your interest in the scheme please download our simple application form and email or faxback your form to HPMA central office (admin@hpma.org.uk or 020 8334 4510).

Good mentoring relationships begin with good matches so we will also ask you to include a few words outlining what you hope to gain from your new mentor or buddy relationship so we can ensure matches based on complementary aspirations. The HPMA mentoring and buddy scheme aims to introduce members to rewarding new relationships that really add value to their working lives.

Consult GEE and HPMA are pleased to publish the results of the 2006 HPMA Conference research on Managing Change and Organisational Development in the NHS.The 2006 HPMA Conference research in conjunction with Consult GEE was designed to establish what the challenges are for human resources professionals within the various parts of the NHS, in dealing with staff development and managing change.

We are now pleased to be able to publish the results of the research, which have provided Consult GEE and HPMA with some interesting findings which will help both organisations to support HPMA members and guide them through the challenges ahead in 2007.

Such challenges include financial recovery, improving efficiency and productivity and the restructuring of the NHS.

The research has also provided Consult GEE and HPMA with some useful information on the engagement of clinicians in people management issues, the amount of support that organisations have received in relation to issues such as Pay and Redundancies, and how organisations measure the effectiveness of training and development.

OPEN - An initiative to support olympic and paralympic athletes
HPMA is pleased to announce that is working with Blue Arrow and the British Olympic Association to help establish the OPEN initiative in the NHS.  OPEN stands for Olympic and Paralympic Employment Network.  The aim of the scheme is to provide opportunities for athletes to develop sustainable careers whilst enabling them to compete at an elite standard.  Employers benefit too, through the internal motivation of having an Olympian within the workforce and being part of the OPEN network.  For more details click here.  To download a membership form click here
